Pulaski County Schools (PCS) underwent the process for re-accreditation this school year, and the results are glowing. PCS scored more than 50 points higher than the normal range. The accrediting agency, AdvancED*, uses their Index of Education Quality (IEQ) to measure academic opportunities and support systems of the 36,000 schools and districts in its global network. A normal IEQ ranges 278-283; PCS scored 335.
Pulaski County High School and Southwestern High School held its 17th Society of Character Induction Ceremony at Pulaski High School. The mission of the Society of Character is to recognize juniors and seniors who have exemplified outstanding character in their respective sport. Each recipient was selected by their coaches on outstanding character, academic excellence, sportsmanship, and involvement in their school and the community. Forty eight students were recognized for this prestigious award.
CONGRATULATIONS to our 16 students selected to participate in the 2019 Governor's Scholars Program.
The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. The Program originated in 1983 as a result of Kentucky leaders’ concern that the state’s “best and brightest” were leaving the Commonwealth to pursue educational and career opportunities elsewhere without fully understanding the potential of their talents at home. Students who are selected attend the Program without charge.
